Drawing on inspiration from interviews with transgender and genderqueer individuals, Peterson Toscano weaves their experiences into the stories of transgender and gender-variant people from the Hebrew and Christian scriptures. Hilarious and moving, Toscano's one-person play deepens well-known (and lesser-known) Bible stories as he presents an array of characters with an array of genders.

Key to Successful Treatment of Transgender Patients May Involve Delay of Puberty

BOSTON – Complications from transgender procedures may be significantly minimized when treatment of a patient with severe gender identity disorder begins prior to puberty, according to expert opinion today at the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) 19th Annual Meeting&Clinical Congress.

The reason, according to Dr. Norman Spack of Children’s Hospital Boston, is that transgender people treated at a younger age often have a much easier time adjusting into society than those who undergo treatment later in life. A pediatric endocrinologist can administer treatment to delay puberty, giving the patient the time to make a permanent decision later in their teens.

“The body is in a state of ‘pubertal limbo’ while the patient undergoes psychological assessment to determine the best course of action,” Dr. Spack said. “Their bodies can’t run away from them.”

An Image I'd Rather Forget: A Critique of Ticked Off Trannies With Knives

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ashley-love/an-image-id-rather-forget_b_549995.html
The film Ticked Off Tra**ies With Knives (TOTWK), spreads fear, misogyny, and hateful ideology. I have seen the film and it's very upsetting that people unfamiliar with transsexual and transgender women will walk away from the film with a stigmatizing perception of trans women. This film is dangerous propaganda, whether intentional or not. TOTWK leaves the viewer with the false impression that transsexual and transgender women are unauthentic in their gender identity and really "gay men in drag." The film portrays all trans women as hyper sexualized, jokes, murderous and/or unstable. This is not only inaccurate; it's offensive and incites further misunderstanding and violence.

LONG BEACH, Calif.—Police are asking for the public's help in finding whoever attacked a transgender student on the California State University, Long Beach campus last week.

University spokesman Rick Gloady said Friday the victim was approached by a man inside a restroom in a campus building the evening of April 15. The suspect said a first name and asked the student if he was that person.

When the student replied that he was, Gloady says the suspect pulled the student's T-shirt over his head, pushed him into the stall and used a sharp object to slash the student's chest. The suspect then fled the area.

Gloady says the student was treated at a hospital and released the same evening.

University police believe it was an isolated incident.

A SYDNEY transsexual has filed a sex discrimination complaint against state and federal governments over a refusal to change his birth certificate to ''male''.

Conor Montgomery, 50, was born a female in Australia but took male hormones, had a double mastectomy and a chest reconstruction 2½ years ago to become a man.

His passport says he is male but the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages will not convert his birth certificate because he has not had genital surgery.
